The Cheetahs will be looking forward to getting this match behind them as they have a bye next week and it is the last match on their tour.

By the end of this week the Cheetahs will have played six Super Rugby matches and they have lost their last three.

The Blues have played four matches so far this season and lost three matches and their last two although they were unlucky last week as the Lions had a try awarded that SANZAR now say should not have been awarded.

The Blues have played the Cheetahs 7 times since the men from Bloemfontein joined Super Rugby in 2006 and the Blues have won 5 times and lost twice.

That gives the Blues a record of winning 71% of their matches against the Cheetahs.

The average score across all venues when the Blues play the Cheetahs is Blues 33 Cheetahs 24.

This weekend the match will be played in Auckland at Eden Park where the teams have met twice. Overall the Blues have had home advantage over the Cheetahs three times as they moved their match in 2009 to North Harbour.

The Blues have won all of their home matches against the Cheetahs regardless of the venue and the average score is Blues 34 Cheetahs 14. Historically the Cheetahs have not scored well against the Blues away from home.

The last time the Blues hosted the Cheetahs in Auckland the Blues won 29-22 which earned the Cheetahs their first losing bonus point in Auckland.

The Blues have made six changes to the team that lost to the starting Lions last week. Having traveled back from South Africa coach Sir John Kirwan could be trying to combat fatigue and has stacked his replacements bench with the likes of Jerome Kaino, Ma’a Nonu and Benji Marshall.

The Cheetahs on the other hand have named Adriaan Strauss to lead the team in his 50th game as captain. Also in the forwards Jean Cook comes in to replace at flank for Lappies Labuschagne who drops down to the bench.

In the backs Hennie Daniller replaces Raymond Rhule on the left wing while Ryno Benjamin replaces Francois Venter at centre after he returned to South Africa with a shoulder injury.

Last week’s 60-27 loss to the Hurricanes must have had an impact on the Cheetahs confidence and having lost all of their tour matches it’s unlikely they will start in Auckland with too much hope of a victory.

Average score: Blues 33 Cheetahs 24
